Princess Tiana Makes Her Debut at Walt Disney World Resort
Beginning this week, Walt Disney World guests will be treated to first-ever appearances by Princess Tiana, star of the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film The Princess and the Frog.
Besides meet-and-greets with guests, Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and other characters from the motion picture will star in Tiana's Showboat Jubilee!, a rousing, colorful procession with a jazz-filled Mardi Gras theme. The good times will roll as festively dressed, bead-tossing revelers lead Magic Kingdom guests to the Liberty Belle Riverboat dock.
The party moves onboard and the Liberty Belle paddlewheels her way along the river with singing and dancing to the sounds of a six-member jazz band. Nearly two-dozen Disney dancers join 30 randomly chosen park guests to be part of each show. Original songs composed by Randy Newman for the film liven the production, which will be performed three times daily. Daytime pyrotechnics and whimsical puppetry round out the spirited, 15-minute production.

The colorful, jazz-filled world of Walt Disney Pictures' The Princess and the Frog meets the magic of Disney parks with the debut of "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee!"
Combining characters and music from the upcoming film with the excitement and spirit of a New Orleans celebration, the extravaganza was created as a joint partnership between the Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts and is set to play at both properties throughout the holiday season.
"This was a great experience and model of how One Disney can work," said Carla Carlile, show director for Disneyland Park, where New Orleans Square and the Mark Twain Riverboat will provide the backdrop when the show opens Nov. 6.
At Magic Kingdom Park, the jubilee debuted Oct. 26. The show begins as a Mardi Gras-themed procession through Liberty Square with costumed revelers accompanied by a live jazz band. After meeting preselected park guests who join the celebration, the performers board the Liberty Belle riverboat to continue their musical journey, allowing guests to watch the festivities from anywhere along the Rivers of America. Characters from The Princess and the Frog who join the party including Tiana, who dreams becoming a restaurateur; Naveen, a prince who was turned into a frog and desperately wants to be human again; and Louis, a trumpet-playing alligator. The film's sinister villain, Dr. Facilier, also appears.
"I don't think we've ever done a show on the boat before," said Tara Anderson, show director for Magic Kingdom Park. "That's been the challenge and exciting part about it too. There is a showboat featured in the film, so it just seemed to make sense."

En het was onlangs de grote premiere...
Princess Tiana's Showboat Jubilee!, a new musical show starring characters from The Princess and the Frog, debuted at Magic Kingdom Park Oct. 26.
The show, which will take place three times a day through Jan. 3, 2010, is being presented to introduce Guests to the new characters and to promote the film, which opens Dec. 11.
The jubilee stars Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, alligator Louis and a cast of Mardi Gras revelers who start the show at the Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland and make their way to the boat dock. There, they board the Liberty Belle, which serves as the stage for the show and its cast, which includes a live six-piece jazz band, 22 dancers and 30 theme park Guests randomly preselected to participate. Guests can view the show from all over Frontierland as the showboat travels down the river toward Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Riverboat Pilot Kurt Hauser couldn't be more thrilled that the Liberty Belle has been chosen as the stage for this new show. "I like it because we get to promote a new movie coming out," he said, adding that he'll be lucky enough to drive the boat for some shows. "When you think of Lousiana, a steamboat is the first thing you come to think about. I like [the show] because the music is very energetic; you just have to move."
Earlier in the day, Princess Tiana was officially welcomed into the Disney family of characters during a special procession in a horse-drawn carriage. Tiana, surrounded by singing and dancing revelers, arrived at Cinderella Castle, where Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and a variety of characters awaited to greet the new princess.
Phil Holmes, vice president of Magic Kingdom Park, thought the procession was a great way to introduce Princess Tiana to theme park Guests.
"First and foremost, we're very excited to have another princess at the Magic Kingdom [Park] and in the Disney family," Phil said. "Each one of our princesses has such a great story to tell, and our Marketing and Entertainment friends did a great job presenting Tiana's."
