Een paar opvallende dingen uit de event guide van marathon weekend 2019.

5K plattegrond

Voor de 5K zijn er slechts 3 startvlakken, A B en C.

10K plattegrond

Er zijn 6 corrals voor de 10K, A tot en met F.

Halve Marathon plattegrond

Voor de HM moest je, net als bij de marathon, een Proof Of Time inleveren. Op basis van die tijd wordt je ingedeeld in het daarbij behorende startvlak. Er zijn 8 corrals, A tot en met H.

Ook hier zijn er 8 startvlakken, A tot en met H

Corrals/Startvlakken zaterdag en zondag

Wees je ervan bewust dat je nog een aardig stukje moet lopen naar de startvlakken voor de HM en marathon! Vanaf het entertainment naar de startvlakken is het ongeveer nog 3km wandelen. Hou hier rekening mee.

Race Retreat!
Het stond van te voren niet meer bij het lijstje van race retreat, maar in de event guide staat toch dat je eerder toegang krijgt tot de Expo wanneer je RT hebt aangeschaft. De Expo gaat op woensdag open om 10uur, maar voor RT gaat het open om 9uur. Inschrijvingen beginnen om 8uur.

Natuurlijk zijn er dixies/portapotties onderweg tijdens de wedstrijden! Dit zijn de toiletten van Magic Kingdom tijdens de halve en hele marathon.

1. This bathroom is in the bus loop area. It may be behind people and/or a CM. It is a small bathroom but it is new and it is very clean. Because it is sort of hidden behind people, it is easy to skip. No big deal if you do, there's 9 more opportunities in MK.

2. This bathroom is just to the right of the customer service windows outside MK. Very small bathroom, also a bit more off course than number 1.

3. This bathroom is off course and is not recommended. Additionally you would need to cut through people cheering both to get to it and get back on course.

4. This bathroom is literally like 100 feet behind where Buzz Lightyear will be doing photo ops. Only problem is that CMs like to tell people that they cannot use this bathroom. Some people have luck, some do not. Don't fret, there's better options.

5. Just after the big left turn inside Tomorrowland on your left hand side is a MASSIVE bathroom. Depending on when you arrive here there may or may not be a line. This is THE MOST USED bathroom on the course so keep that in mind.

6. Slightly up the path and to the left of the tea cups is a small 2 stall bathroom. Most people will run right by it and not even know it is there. Just remember to go past the tea cups on the right hand side after using it and you will be fine.

7. Up next to Gaston's, this bathroom is again small. It's kind of a pain in the dark to get to it, so I would just skip it as the BEST bathroom is up next.

8. This one is located next to Pinocchio's Haus. This bathroom is huge, just slightly off course and is your best bet for a bathroom inside Magic Kingdom.

9. This one is the bathroom that is located between Adventureland and Frontierland. Big bathroom, not very much off course and is definitely open.

10. I think this one is inside the restaurant here, I'd skip it.

Honorable mention: According to the map this year we will not be doing the out and back from Splash Mountain to Big Thunder Mountain. However, there is a bathroom down there if they change the course back to having that like last year.

Anders ik wel! Super veel zin in! Laat de corral placements maar komen, ben benieuwd! Heb wel een vermoeden, maar toch even fijn als het straks op papier staat.

Met een simpele rekensom kwam ik hierop uit:

Totaal aantal HM bibs (incl. HM, Goofy, Dopey): 25.142

Ik zit in D, dat betekend dat Elite+A+B+C voor me zit, totaal 4.819 bibs, in mijn corral zitten 2.346 bibs en achter mij E+F+G+H, totaal 17.941 lopers.

Jij nog een bepaalde tactiek voor de marathon?

Ik denk 2 minuten lopen / 30 seconden wandelen. Als het niet meer gaat minder lopen.
Ben niet top fit. Sinds laatste mock-dopey tot 18 mijl gegaan en zeurende soms pijntjes in de schenen en bij het spronggewricht. Vandaag 5 mijl gewandeld. Bekijk morgen even hoe het gaat met run/walk methode.
Wandelen gaat best goed dus ‘if all else fails’ kan dat ook nog.

Mijn ongetrainde man zit voor de halve in A xD Ben heel benieuwd welk corral we krijgen voor de 5K en 10K, op basis van zijn startnummers die ook erg laag zijn voor die races, denk ik dat hij overal in A zit.

@Eleanor 18mijl is een hele goeie afstand! Ik zelf ben net verder gegaan dan 30km, op advies van vele ervaren lopers. Momenteel ligt er bij mij een liesblessure op de loer, dus ik heb mijn training ook aangepast. Ik kreeg een mooi advies van iemand: "Je moet de start halen (ipv dat je de finish moet halen)".

Hopelijk blijven de pijntjes bij je weg!
