Another, arguably even more popular large-scale entertainment production hasn’t been so lucky. It has now been confirmed that The Tarzan Encounter will NOT return to The Chaparral Theater in Frontierland this year at all. The entire production has been cancelled just this week, and the show will not see its tenth season play out in 2009 as planned.



The Tarzan Encounter has remained the most popular live stage show at the resort, possibly only beaten by its snowy cousin Mickey’s Winter Wonderland, which continues to play until March, performing to a huge audience of 1,350 guests in the resort’s second-largest park show space after the Moteurs… Action! arena (capacity 3,000).

So, whilst The Legend of the Lion King has been suspended mostly due to the very limited capacity of Videopolis’ theatre seating not making budgetary sense for the entertainment department to continue running the expensive show 5 days a week for just a few hundred guests, why cancel a second show, for an entire year?

If we’re to believe the latest information from posted online, the entertainment department had a decision to make — a very last-minute one, apparently. The Mickey’s Magical Party event ‘It’s Dance Time… in Discoveryland‘ was originally only due to be performed on five days each week. By cancelling The Tarzan Encounter, it can now be a full 7-days-a-week production.

A strange decision, if true, since the cost of running Tarzan versus two extra days of DJ Stitch must be slightly imbalanced — not to mention it being unlikely that that same 1,350 people who could see each Chaparral Theater show will be able to crowd around the outdoor location of the dance-along in the streets of Discoveryland…

It’s a bad announcement for many fans, then, but not necessarily for those still holding out hopes that a water-based attraction along the lines of Splash Mountain could one day arrive at the back of Frontierland as originally planned. Rumour has it this cancellation will also allow preparatory work for a new attraction where The Chapparal Theater currently stands.

Though yes, true, we’ve had such unlikely things happening as a jungle ape-man on-stage in an American Old West setting, Euro Disney SCA going ahead with a hugely expensive new attraction in Frontierland would be pushing the believability scale a little too far for now… wouldn’t it?

Ik zou het ook erg jammer vinden als dit voorgoed zou verdwijnen. Stel het theater plaats moet maken voor een nieuwe attractie, dan vraag ik me af of ze voor shows een nieuwe locatie zouden maken.

The announcement wasn’t popular. When rumour turned to confirmation that Disneyland Resort Paris had cancelled plans to bring the popular Tarzan: Le Rencontre (The Tarzan Encounter) acrobatic stage show back to The Chaparral Theater in Frontierland for its tenth season, fans near enough shouted outrage.

Even more so when it emerged the main reasoning behind that decision — to ensure the Mickey’s Magical Party street shows could run seven days a week for the entire season.

The Tarzan Encounter WILL return!

Entertainment has now decided once and for all that Tarzan will swing back into the Chaparral — but only from 4th July to 30th August 2009, the Summer high season.

This is much shorter than his usual schedule from early April to late September, but will still come as a pleasant surprise for the show’s many fans after their earlier disappointment.

Mooi om te lezen dat Tarzan weer te zien is in het Chapperal theater, oké het is geen nieuwe show, maar nog altijd beter als helemaal geen show.
En hier vinden we het nog steeds een mooie show om te zien.

Getting ready for Tarzan

After a two year hiatus the popular show “Tarzan – The Encounter” will return to the Chaparral Theater in Frontierland for the summer months of 2011. The show retells the story of the animated Disney classic with an acrobatic performance and a large cast underscored by the popular music of Phil Collins from the movie. Preparations are already under way in the theater.
As can be seen in our photos the fake snow coverage is completely gone from the rockwork on the right side of the stage and nearly completely gone from the wooden hut on the left side of the stage. Now the Rocky Mountains scenery is being transformed into a jungle setting once again. Expect the wooden hut to disappear behind a jungle front soon as well as the vines for the aerial stunts to be added to the rockwork at the far end together with some jungle flora on the currently still barren rocks.

De populaire show ‘The Tarzan Encounter’ (‘Tarzan La Rencontre’) keert terug naar Disneyland Parijs voor alweer het 11e seizoen. Ook dit jaar is het Chaparral Theater in Frontierland het decor voor de acrobatische toeren van Tarzan, Jane, Terk en de lenige aapjes. De interactieve show zal meerdere malen per dag worden opgevoerd en duurt ongeveer 25 minuten.


Op de klanken van Phil Collins vliegen de acteurs letterlijk door de lianen, springen ze op trampolines, gooien ze elkaar door de lucht en maken ze muziek met een deel van het publiek. Het theater is voor de gelegenheid omgebouwd tot jungle waar Tarzan en Jane elkaar vinden en waar Terk het kamp op stelten zet tijdens het interactieve gedeelte. Enkele kinderen worden uitgenodigd om mee te doen tijdens dit deel van de show.

The Tarzan Encounter beleeft zijn première voor dit seizoen in het Disneyland Park op zaterdag 9 juni en eindigt op zondag 2 september 2012. De spectaculaire show is tweetalig (Engels- en Franstalig) en geschikt voor de hele familie. Zorg dat u minimaal 30 minuten voor aanvang bij het Chaparral Theater aanwezig bent voor de beste plaatsen.

Deze week is het dan zover ''The Tarzan Encounter'' / ''Tarzan La Recontre'' is vanaf vrijdag 9 Juli terug te zien in Theatre du Chaparral. Voor Dream pass houders is er om 18.15 een speciale voorstelling gereserveerd om deze als een van de eerste te kunnen gaan zien.



Dus ga allemaal deze zomer kijk de show is te zien van 9 Juni 2012 tot met 2 September 2012.

Volgens onderstaand artikel op RadioDisneyClub.fr zou Tarzan, the Encounter volgend jaar zomer terugkeren in Chapparal Theater in Frontierland:

Comme annoncé fin septembre suite au fan event « What’s new, what’s next at DLP », le retour du spectacle Tarzan, la Rencontre se précise pour l’année prochaine.
Selon nos informations, le spectacle reviendra au Chaparral Theater de Frontierland à partir d’avril 2014 et ce jusqu’à la fin de l’été.
Il faut reconnaître que le retour du spectacle s’avère une bonne nouvelle pour deux raisons : d’abord pour le land qui connaît une véritable désertion (au même titre que Discoveryland derrière Space Mountain) passé Big Thunder Mountain et le restaurant Fuente Del Oro avec la gare de Frontierland Depot peu fréquenté, l’ouverture irrégulière du restaurant Cowboy Cookout et le faible rendement du Woody’s Roundup Village, ensuite, pour l’amélioration de l’offre « entertainment » vivement critiquée depuis les festivités des 20 ans de Disneyland Paris où le spectacle Disney Dreams ! avait supplanté tous les spectacles présentés sur le parc.



Si le spectacle a connu quelques remaniements au fil des années, aucun changement n’est encore connu à ce jour pour son retour en 2014. Sauf pour la scène qui a subit quelques travaux dernièrement pour une remise aux normes dit-on. Les équipes de Disneyland Paris auront tout le loisir de préparer le retour de Tarzan, la Rencontre puisque le spectacle de fin d’année Mickey et la Magie de l’Hiver n’a pas été reconduit cette année.

Quoi qu’il en soit, nous espérons que cette décision ne fera pas machine arrière comme cela été le cas avec l’annonce du retour du spectacle pour 2013.
S’il revient, le spectacle fêtera ses 14 ans d’existence. La première ayant eu lieu le 1er avril 2000, il succédait alors au spectacle en plein air Pocahontas.
Rendez-vous donc en avril prochain pour assister de nouveau à ce spectacle qui mêle talents de voltiges et acrobatiques sans épargner quelques singeries aux sons des musiques du film composées par Phil Collins.

Zoals aangekondigd in het event what's new, what's next komt Tarzan terug. Volgens onze informatie komt de show terug in het Chaparral Theater vanaf april 2014 tot het eind van het zomer seizoen.

Er zijn 2 goede redenenen waarom de show terug komt : als eerste door het nogal verlaten gebied voorbij Fuente del Oro (net als achter Space Mountain in Discoveryland) weer een beetje op te laten leven, en natuurlijk om het entertainment aanbod weer een beetje op te krikken, zoals voor het 20 jarig bestaan, waardoor alle shows geschrapt zijn door de komst van o.a. Disney Dreams.

Als Tarzan terugkomt, zal de show zijn 14 jarige verjaardag vieren, en we hopen uiteraard dat niet, zoals in 2013 gebeurde, de show op het laatste moment geannuleerd zal worden.

Van Pocahontas tot he Enchanted Forest : 20 jaar de mooiste shows in Chaparral Theatre



Toen the Chaparral Stage zijn gebouwd werd was hij vooral bedoelt als een podium voor country groepen . Maar in 1996 veranderde het podium in Frontierland in een echt theater . Sinds 1996 verwelkomde Chaparral heel wat grote producties .Vanaf morgen verwelkomt Chaparral zijn nieuwste productie : the Enchanted Forest: a Disney musical adventure.
Dit bracht ons op het idee om even terug in de tijd te gaan . En te kijken welke producties er allemaal stonden .

Pocahontas – The Show
Pocahontas – The Show was de eerste groots opgezette show in het nieuwe theater van Frontierland . Op 12 Mei 1996 werden gasten uitgenodigd op een uniek spektakel dat het verhaal vertelde van de 33ste Disney klassieker Pocahontas . In de show werden de gasten uitgenodigd op de film set van Pocahontas . En kregen ook de kans om te figureren in de klassieker vol avontuur en romantiek . Tijdens deze show was het theater nog niet overdekt en dus erg afhankelijk van het weer . Gasten konden de show bewonderen tot 29 Augustus 1999 .


2. Mickey’s Winter Wonderland
Vanaf het Kerst seizoen van 1997 verwelkomde Chaparral iedere Kerst ‘Mickey’s Winter Wonderland’. Dit was een jaarlijkse traditie tot 8 Januari 2012 . Tijdens deze show genoten de Disney figuren van een gezellige winter dag . En lieten ze het beste van zichzelf zien op schaatsen . Stage director Emmanuel Lenormand zorgde met deze show voor een muzikale comedy met ondermeer klassiekers als “Let it snow”, “it’s cold outside” en “Walking in a winter wonderland”.


3. Tarzan : the Encounter
Op 1 April 2000 lanceerde Reed Jones en Kat de Blois de show : Tarzan - the Encounter . De show had alles wat een live show moest hebben . De show werd gebracht door multi getalenteerde artiesten zoals : dansers , acrobaten , stuntmannen en zangers die het beste van zich zelf lieten zien in een poëtische en energieke show vol speciale effecten . De muziek van de show werd opgenomen in Los Angeles in bijzijn van Mark Mancina , Vasile Sirli en het muzikaal team achter de film waaronder Phil collins . Phil Collins nam voor deze show ook enkele liedjes op in 6 talen . Tarzan was één van de meest verbazingwekkende en succesvolle shows in Disneyland Paris tot zijn einde in de zomer van 2012 .

4. Frozen Sing along
Tijdens de zomer van 2015 verwelkomde Disneyland Paris de show : Frozen Sing along . In de show die op de succes film ‘Frozen’ gebaseerd werd . Konden alle toeschouwers meedoen bij de show door te zingen en dansen op de nu al legendarische liedjes uit de Frozen . De show bevatte ondermeer reusachtige schermen met de liedjes teksten in een aantal talen en een gigantische finale waarin Elsa in hoogsteigen persoon voor een spectaculaire sneeuwstorm zorgde . De show speelde tijdens de zomer 12 keer per dag . En kwam ook terug tijdens het Kerst seizoen . En ook dit jaar zal de show weer spelen vanaf Juni .

5. The Forest of Enchantment: a Disney Musical Adventure
Vanaf 10 februari 2016 zal Disneyland Paris een volledige nieuwe voorstellen op het podium van het Chaparral Theatre .
In deze show zullen Disney helden en heldinnen de natuur vereren op een ongewone manier . Tijdens deze muzikale show zullen gasten oog in oog staan met de Disney characters in een betoverend bos vol verassingen . De show werd speciaal voor Disneyland Paris gecreëerd onder leiding van ‘stage director' Christophe Leclercq .
