Aulani-Disney Hawaii resort

Disney has revelaed the name as well as the official website for their new Resort Hotel in Hawaii. They have named it Aulani, You can sign up for official updates on the site as work towards the grand opening 29th august 2011. In case you were wondering, According to an official Disney tweet, Aulani means “the place that speaks for the great ones” or “the place that speaks with deep messages.

It's time to add the magic, so Mickey hits the beach at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

The major structural work on Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, is complete and yesterday the construction crew officially “handed over the keys” to the Disney cast members. The Disney team will now proceed to “add the magic” to the resort, honing the guest service and installing the décor, landscape and furnishings that will make Aulani a memorable island vacation experience with distinctive Disney touches.

To celebrate the occasion, crew members from Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc., joined with members of the Disney team on the Aulani beachfront. The Disney cast members saluted the Hawaiian Dredging crew for its great work and the two teams exchanged gifts – lei for the Disney folks, mouse ears for the Hawaiian Dredging crew.

Mickey, Minnie and their pals – all in their vacation outfits – were there to join in the celebration. And of course it wouldn’t be a Disney event without something magical to photograph, so everyone – Disney cast members and construction crew members alike – gathered together to form the distinctive Aulani arch on the beach, and then spread out to morph the arch into Mickey’s silhouette.

De spa in Aulani heeft een nieuwe naam: Laniwai, wat “freshwater heaven” betekent.

Wij gaan in november naar Hawaii. We blijven niet overnachten in Aulani want het is erg duur maar ben er achter gekomen dat je er wel kunt ontbijten met Disneyfiguren en dineren dus dat gaan we zeker doen! Ben erg benieuwd hoe het geworden is :mickey2:

We hebben net een reservering gemaakt om te gaan ontbijten met Disney character in Aulani! Ben echt heel benieuwd!

Om de tweede verjaardag te vieren van Aulani, werd er een Ducky Derby gehouden in de Waikolohe Stream. Voor meer dan 1000 rubberen eendjes begon hun reis bij de top van Tubestone Curl en eindigde die aan de finishlijn. Voor elke deelnemende gast maakte Aulani een donatie van $10 aan Hawai`iʻs Nature Conservancy. Zo werd er meer dan $10.000 opgehaald om de Hawaïaanse natuur de helpen onderhouden en te behoeden.

Er is ook een kleine uitbreiding gaande, zo komt er tegen 19 oktober een nieuw zwembad (Ka Maka Landing) en een nieuwe eetgelegenheid (Ulu Cafe).

En begin dit jaar werd er een nieuwe winkel geopend: Hale Manu.
